Amish Cover Page

I guess if you want to see this book with the pages in the actual order I plan to have them in, you will have to come to my house since I screwed up this blog royally already! :)

Anyway, last layout for our Pennsylvania trip so off to the printer!  Hopefully I get them back in a week or less.

I am thinking the next book I do will be Las Vegas and surrounding areas, which will most likely take me quite a long time since I have to include Vegas, Grand Canyon, Rock Canyon and Spring Mountain Valley in the book.  Tons of pages!  But, I should probably get them done before heading off to Las Vegas again in less than three weeks!

Trip Narrative

It just now occurred to me that I should have put all the posts into one post since it's all the same trip.  Oh well, next time since I have already added words to all the other posts :)

I loved this paper.  I have opened the kit One Step Beyond #42 a million times and used the papers/elements  (on this page, the blueish flowers) a lot, but I had never opened this particular paper file.  After opening probably fifteen different papers, I knew I had found the right one.

I had been trying to use the element on the upper left in so many different layouts, but it never seemed to fit.. until now!  Yay!  I finally got to use it!  It's from Janet Scott's Our House.

The remaining elements are from a kit I fell in love with at first sight.  I seldom like to pay more than $5 for a kit, but since I wanted to use the papers and elements for our wedding wall hangings, I went ahead and spent the $15 (the US dollar conversion) for the complete kit.  With that said, I try to use those elements as much as I can to justify the cost.  The kit is Maria Pia by Valentina.  Her designs are spectacular.

Room with a View

Like the page says, I love this picture because of the straight lines and angles so I was trying to match the lines in the layout to the image.  I remembered Hummie's World had a template with triangles and, even though the angle isn't exactly the same, I still think it works.  The diamond elements are from Marisa Lerin's Paris kit that I found while doing this project when I was searching for black and silver elements.  The dangling string is from Janet Scott's Look A Book kit.

Amish Children

I used another template by Hummie's world on this one.  I am finding using templates can sometimes speed up my work, but at the same time, I change templates so much from their original form that one would never know I even used one in the first place.  I have been trying to use these papers from the kit Tyke for a while now, but they just never seemed to "fit" the look I was going for.  This time they seemed to work!  At least I hope they do.  Oh well, they work for me, and I am really the only one I need to be pleasing when I do these :)

Buggy Ride in Amish Country, Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania

This layout took me a bit to do.  I couldn't figure out what papers I wanted to use, what colors, etc.  I knew I wanted it to be barnish/horse-ish, but, other than that I didn't know.  Then I came across the wood paper in my stash, and the rest of it just fell into place.  That's how designing happens for me.  I struggle and struggle, and then it's just there in front me of all of a sudden.  All the pieces come together. This is another Hummie's World template.

Longwood Gardens

Pennsylvania Grand Canyon

Anna Aspnes is one of my favorite digital designers.  I used one of her overlays in both images.  I can't seem to keep away from the button in Boo Silva's Hello October collection either!

One Year Anniversary Pennsylvania Trip

The cover page for the entire PA anniversary trip album.

I had a lot of fun making this page.  I knew on your trip in September that I wanted to incorporate a map in this trip since we stopped at several different places.  Then I found a designer who designed the state map masks and knew I just had to buy them!  So I inserted a Mapquest map inside her mask.
